visible mending/Reconciliation
This series was created for an exhibition on Truth and Reconciliation at the Art Gallery of Bancroft. By cutting into and then stitching my landscapes back together visibly, and slightly askew, I’m acknowledging that repairs cannot erase history and its ugliness, but will instead be part of creating something new. There is hope in mending, and a look towards the future.
I’m donating 25% of the proceeds from these paintings to Water First, a group that uses education and collaboration to address water issues in Indigenous communities in Canada.
